We are a part of God’s family by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. This Advent, we will be learning more about our history as God’s people in Jesus’ family tree. This “Jesse Tree” is filled with signs and symbols that walk us through the story of Jesus’ birth, life, death, and resurrection. Jesus is the Seed, the Root, the Branch, and the First Fruit of the Jesse Tree.
“Let Us Pray” – Day of Prayer – Bethany Lutheran – September 11th
If there is one thing this year has taught us so far, it’s that we need God. Perhaps now more than ever. In light of this and all that is going on in our country right now, we will be offering a day of prayer here at Bethany on Friday, September 11th. This will be a time to gather as God’s people to ask for his mercy and grace upon our land, as we pray for ourselves, our church, our neighbors, our community, and our country.
Our posture in prayer is a firm faith in God’s promises, believing in His desire to hear and answer us as His children. We pray because God has asked us to bring our prayers and petitions to Him, our thanks and praise as well as our cares and concerns. We pray so that our sins might be forgiven and that our hearts might be renewed in Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit. No matter what time or day, it’s always a good time to pray.
We will have prayers and hymns and devotionals available to assist in your prayer time. You may come anytime for 30 minutes, an hour, or as long as you would like. The church will be open and available all day.
Our theme bible verse for the day will be 2 Chronicles 7:14 – “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
Our time of exile will soon be over. We will be holding worship in the sanctuary this coming Sunday (May 10). At the same time, we will continue to provide audio for those in the parking lot who may be uncomfortable or unable to come inside.
In addition, we will continue to …
– Encourage people who feel sick to stay home.
– Practice appropriate social distancing.
– Place hand sanitizer and disinfectant in the narthex.
– Not hug or shake hands for a time.
– Pick up our own bulletins.
Thank you for being patient in these strange and uncertain times. We know from God’s Word that all things work for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. Our Loving Lord will continue to provide all that we need for body and soul to life eternal.
Please join us this month for our series from the Book of Daniel – “A Faithful Life in A Foreign Land.”
